Q: How do I fix the error, ACCOUNT OVERLIMIT/Unknown Profile?

A: This message indicates that you have exeeded the final WEEKLY account download limit as mentioned on our account policies page.
You have three options:

Q: I just signed up but it says bad username and password, wth?

A: You will get a transaction ID acknowledging that the transaction completed and that the account was credited. You will also get an e-mail confirming your username and password. If not, you need to try again.

Q: How do I add time/credit to my account?

A: At the top of our main page enter your username and password and select 'manage' instead of surf. Then read down until you find the link that says 'Add time to your account'.

Q: Is it possible to pay in cash?

A: Yes, e-mail us at contact@jackalwireless.net or via the contact page for cash payment instructions.

Q: Do you have secure (encrypted) interent access?

A: Yes, e-mail us at contact@jackalwireless.net or via the contact page for instructions on how to set up personal secure internet access.

Q: Will P2P (Kazaa, Limewire, BitTorrent) work?

A: Currently these are permitted to run except during the busiest times (2000-0000). We can't guarantee that every P2P program will work. For bittorent, try Utorrent and encrypt the connection if you are having problems.

Q: I keep getting disconnected when downloading a large file, how do I fix it?

A: Try using a download manager that is able to resume broken downloads where they left off. One (Free Download Manager) is available on our downloads page.

Q: What do I get when I sign up for "one month"?

A: You get credit for however many days are in the current month (Feb=28, Mar=31, etc...)
ie. Pay on the 12th of this month then you will have access until the 12th of the next.

Q: Is it true that Al Gore invented the internet?

A: No, this is false. It is generally agreed upon that Jackal invented the internet.

Q: My credit card statement shows you charged $75.75 instead of $75, whatsamattawityou?

A: Some credit card companies have a 1% (or higher) surcharge on overseas purchases. Normally this is shown as a separate charge on the statement but can sometimes be combined with the original. This is your credit card companies charge, not ours!

Q: Why is there a traffic limit?!

A: Two reasons, cost and fairness. Unlimited downloads would cause problems with heavier users slowing down the connection for other everyone else.

Q: Can I pay more to get a higher download limit or more speed?

A: Yes, we have multiple account types. You can even change speed or add additional download capacity using the manage page.

Q: Why did my internet suddenly slow down?

A: Please check your account via the manage button and if you are overlimit, this is why. If not, send us an email. The speed and traffic limit will be reset every Friday at 0300.

Q: How can I see how much I've downloaded so far?

A: Use the manage button with your login information to see this. You can also go to http://www.jackalwireless.net/logmeout to see your current sessions download amount.

Q: How much of my traffic limit does gaming and webcamming use?

A: Not much. The big users of your limit are LARGE file downloads, p2p file sharing software, and windows automatic updates.

Q: How can I make sure my computer isn't downloading or file sharing when I am away?

A: When you are done surfing, don't just leave the PC or shut it off, actually log yourself out of Jackal through the "manage your account" section or by surfing to http://www.jackalwireless.net/logmeout and clicking "log off".

Q: Why is my latency so high when I play my game online?

A: Due to the distance between here and most European, American, and Asian gaming servers.

Q: Can I play my Xbox360 or PS3 through Jackal?

A: Yes, many users already do this but we can't offer any specific support or configuration advice.

Q: How can I determine what my IP address is?

A: Click on your start menu then type "cmd" in the 'run/start search' line and press enter. A black window will appear. Type "ipconfig". Your IP address will be on a line that starts with ' IPv4 Address. . .'. Type "exit" to close the window.

Q: How can I return my SU for the $75 deposit?

A: Click Here for our SU return guide!

Q: I'm moving between villages (Dodge x to Dodge x or Freedom), will my SU still work?

A: Email us the MAC address off the SU and location it is moving from and too. SU's only work in DS, DN, Freedom Village, Audie Murphy, and Omaha Beach!

Q: Why is internet access so expensive here?

A: Because bandwidth here is really REALLY expensive. What you can get in the U.S. for $500 a month will cost $10,000 here. All the internet links in and out of this country are by satellite and satellite time ain't cheap!

A: Go to this link: link for instructions to bypass our proxy servers.

Q: My surfing is slow and I think there may be a problem with my connection, how can I check?

A: First, make sure you stop any downloads you are running (iTunes, web download, p2p software, etc...).
Second, go to speedtest.jackalwireless.net and run the test.
This is a test to our own internal server. Your results should show download speed above 512kbps, latency below 40ms, and packet loss below 4%.
If your numbers do not meet this, there may be a problem with your local connection (bad cable, wireless issues, etc...) and you should contact us with your location and test results.
If the first test is fine, then next go to www.speedtest.net and run the test to a US server.
Go to the settings menu at the top of the main page there and change "Speed Measurement" to "kilobits"'
If the results are slower then what you should be getting for your speed package then some download software may still be running on your computer or your account may be over it's weekly download limit.

A: To pay by credit card, click here.
DO NOT SEND US UNSOLICITED FUNDS. NEW SIGN UPS SHOULD GO THROUGH THE 'SIGN UP' PAGE.
